My Beautiful Wickedness

Taylor Mali was indeed great.

He’s a good spoken word poet, no doubt. But what was even better, from my perspective, was sitting in the largest venue on campus watching our usually sort of inert (or at least, they keep their intellectual powder dry to talk among themselves outside of my earshot, maybe?) students packed walls to rafter (SRO Baby!) laughing, talking, and arguing about POETRY. About words. About whether art can change lives.

Hell yeah. I could have never conceived of such a thing happening on our campus. The liberal arts, she happened last night and it was beautiful to watch.
