Finally got to see the clip of Seeger getting to sing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I am so happy that he lived to see his faith in the essential goodness of Americans vindicated and to lead us all once more in jubilant song.

I cried, but I blamed it on my cold.

I got some scheduled maintenance done on my car today and got to listen to the locals’ estimation of Obama and the people who elected him; they don’t share our estimation of this being a vindication of the essential goodness of Americans. To sum it up, some guy showed everyone some clumsy, racist anti-Obama cartoons that he had on his cell phone, and then everyone agreed that “We hope he turns out to be the best president in history, and we certainly don’t want him to be assassinated, but it’s a damn shame that we elected a guy with no morals.”

So that’s how the other half is living, and we’d best not forget it.
