My Beautiful Wickedness

I’m relieved that Gustav appears to have gentled a little and that it looks like folks in Louisiana and Mississippi will be (mostly) ok. The tone of the interviewees for this article, however, suggests that New Orleans dodged a serious bullet. They know that they are unready for a big disaster, that the progress has been very slow, that needed repairs and updates have been postponed because the funding isn’t there.

So, I’m hoping that our leaders don’t draw the wrong conclusions. The Gulf Coast got lucky. We were able to have a dry run (pun intended) of a huge emergency evac to work the kinks out and it looks like some lessons were learned and applied. Thank God for that. Now, back to work.
