An affecting slideshow of returned vets. I was actually looking for photos taken by disabled veterans as well, having read up on the literature of “the gaze” and the displaying of wounded male bodies to political effect.

While searching around for that, I did find this interesting article on the DOD website. Watch for the US to have a really good Paralympic team this time around — in fact, I’d bet that if there’s a strong enough military involvement on the men’s teams, they might even get some primetime cable coverage.

Oh, and if anyone feels moved to do anything to support these or other disabled veterans — especially those who are suffering from the invisible disabilities of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder, these folks are a pretty good outfit. Since I have some people with connections to the Nashville cycling community in my readership, I’ll point out that this group is scheduling a SoldierRide through Tennessee in early November.
